Honors & Awards

SES oversees several awards and honors to members and eminent scholars of the field. A total of six medals are offered on an annual basis as well as election to Fellow grade of the Society

A.C. Eringen Medal

The prize is in the form of a medal, the A. C. Eringen Medal, and an award of $2000. The recipient will deliver the Eringen Medal Lecture at the annual meeting of the Society. The prize is awarded in recognition of sustained outstanding achievements in Engineering Science. The recipient need not be a member of the Society, but becomes a lifetime member upon receipt of the medal.

The deadline for submitting nominations is September 1st.

2024 A.C. Eringen Medalist

For seminal contributions to the field of three-dimensional nano- and micro-architected materials with unprecedented mechanical, physical and chemical properties and for the development of innovative in-situ experimental methods and instruments widely used to study mechanics of small-scale materials.
